Brief Chronology of Professional Career
Dr. Wolfe, a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery, completed his residency and
fellowship at Johns Hopkins Hospital and Medical Center. His
professional career began as a professor in the Department
of OMFS at the University of CT Health Center (UCHC),
followed by 15 years of private clinical practice and
teaching, during which time he became a leader and
spokesperson for increased access to clinical care for
underserved populations, and the control of infectious
disease in healthcare practice. After receiving his Master
of Public Health degree, Dr. Wolfe dedicated himself to
public health education and community public health service
full-time. Prior to joining the UCHC Department of Community
Medicine and Health Care (CMHC) faculty, Dr. Wolfe served as
State Oral Health Director at the CT Department of Public
Health, where he created the CT Community Integrated Service
Systems project and OPENWIDE, a nationally recognized model
program for building community health capacity through
innovative education and training for health and human
services providers; as Professor and Head of Public Health
and Community Service at Tufts University School of Dental
Medicine; and as a Faculty Fellow of Tufts University
College of Citizenship and Community Service.
In addition to Dr. Wolfe’s teaching and research
responsibilities, he serves on the MPH Program Advisory
Committee; as Chair of the MPH Program Community
Partnerships Committee; and is the CMHC coordinating
director of the University of CT Undergraduate Public Health
Initiative.
Dr. Wolfe is the course instructor for the MPH Program’s
Practicum in Public Health, Field Experience in Public
Health, and Foundations of Strategic Planning ; an
instructor for the CMHC undergraduate Introduction to Public
Health and Introduction to Epidemiology courses; and a
conference leader for the UCHC HDH Clinical Epidemiology
course.
Dr. Wolfe’s research interests focus on program planning
and development, community engagement, and innovative
approaches to health education and training.
